Apologies for not writing a post for awhile. Ha, as if anyone reads this. Most likely I’m apologizing to myself in 5 years when I look back at this post. Hi, future me, I hope that you’re not starving and whoring yourself out to the masses in order to gain at least a pinch of notoriety and you haven’t sold all of your soul for the pursuance of the American Dream yet.
Speaking of selling your soul to the corporate beast of America, I was reading another blog of an acquaintance of mine from college who is traveling across the country as a “homeless comic” to try and jump start a career in stand-up comedy and I came across a couple quotes that he found:
“It takes 15 years to become an overnight success.”
and
“Sometimes persistence makes up for talent.”
He then said something that I can connect to: “Maybe (because I have all the time in the world and at this point in my career people find me only mildly amusing) somewhere between these two clichés I can find my niché.” I can only hope the same will apply to me.
Anyway, I’ve started my on-the-job training with TSA at the airport. It’s much easier to work for only 4 hours a day rather than 10, so I’m liking that aspect. The job itself seems pretty easy and I think that it’s something that I’ll be able to stick with. At least that’s what I’m hoping because it pays decently and I’m moving to the Big Apple in 6 months, so I damn well better stick with it!
Other than working and thinking about what the hell I’m going to do in 6 months, my life has been pretty boring to say the least. I’m looking forward to being able to work with my brother on our film project. He’s been really busy too so we haven’t been able to really sit and talk about it except for the times when he comes to dinner; and that’s been rare, because, once again, we’re both incredibly busy.
But that’s life. Until the next post, good night, good luck, and look out, this is bat country.
P.S. If you’re in Tucson, you should try and catch”The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee” at the TCC. It’s really funny, but it closes on Sunday, so get your tickets!
