Beginning of the End

LOST banner

Tonight was the Season 4 premiere episode of LOST. I’ve been waiting for this for 8 months. It was a great opening as well. I’m quite excited for the rest of the season. Although it’s going to be only half of the originally proposed season because of the Writers’ Strike.

DHL lost my new laptop I ordered several days ago. I’ve never been so seething at a company before. I drafted complains to DHL and Dell, which was the first time that I ever sent complaints to a company. Dell was very cooperative and is sending me a new laptop except it’s going to take 8 business days, which is a little frustrating.

I also had to drop out of “Fifth Planet” because I’ve been sick for almost a week. My fever spiked to 104 and I’ve been coughing like crazy. I’m really disappointed because I liked that play alot and wanted to opportunity to perform in it. It’s too bad, but I guess that’s just “par for the course”, as one of my lines would’ve been.

I start at TSA on Monday. Wish me luck.

Job Update, Etc.

January 21, 2008

I haven’t updated in awhile so I should probably do that.

I finally got the job at TSA. It took 7 months to finally get the job. It’ll be worth it though. I’ll be getting paid $13.25/hour for 20 hours a week. I’ll be making more money working there part-time than working full-time at Best Buy. So, I’m pretty glad about that. I get sworn in on February 4th and then I have to go through orientation. I’m pretty excited about that, hopefully I won’t hate doing it.

I’m also moving forward with several different shows. I’m going to be in “Fifth Planet” downtown at the Beowulf Theatre Alley in the beginning of Feb. and I’m also going to be Assistant Directing the Jonathan Larson musical “tick, tick…BOOM!” at Studio Connections starting January 29. The show itself will be in March.

Not to mention several different projects that my brother and I are going to be starting in the near future. Which reminds me…I should probably get in contact with him. We haven’t touched base in awhile.

That’s all for now. And remember not to stop, this here’s bat country.

J.A.C.K. Web Series

January 4, 2008

I find it funny how I get into these kicks between film and theatre. I love both, and I’d like to do both, but sometimes one trumps the other for a couple months. Anyway, a couple months ago, Jacob and I were talking about doing several different web series. One of them was “J.A.C.K.” which was about an “anti-mafia mafia.”

So last night I went out and filmed a “minisode” for the web series. We filmed from 9 PM – 3 AM and then I edited all day today. I’m pretty proud of the finished product (of which I directed, did the cinematography, and edited). The only thing I’m upset about is the audio. At times it spiked and it’s not very good quality in general. I really need to get a proper shotgun mic.

Anyway, I uploaded the video to Stage6 (a DiVX company that lets you upload pretty high quality videos). It does require a small download (the web player), but it’s well worth it to watch good high quality videos.

The Year of the Move

January 1, 2008

Well, here we are. 2008. The Year of the Move.

Last night, I kind of just stayed at home. I don’t really like driving around on New Years. Too many drunk rednecks out on the road.

I got laid off from Best Buy. I’m still hoping for the TSA job. I saved some money from the Best Buy job, but I’ll definitely need alot more in order to survive in New York. Hopefully my friend is going to hook me up with a job at a law firm until my TSA job goes through.

I’m pretty excited about moving. Just hearing myself say it in my head: “I move this summer.” It’s a little daunting, but I know it’s the right decision. If I don’t do this now, I know I’m going to regret it 20 years down the line.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I figured I might as well make an entry on the first of the New Year, that way next year I can look back on it and compare how I feel then.
